My Monday

Posted on 4th October 2010

So today was pretty lame. I chose not to go into work on time because I was still feeling ill when I woke up but my cat decided to come into my room and scream at me. So after reluctantly climbing out of bed I decided it was time I go into work and sort out a couple of issues. One of those issues being the parking ticket I got while working last Thursday (which is an interesting story all in itself).

I updated my time sheets, and filed my expenses, fixed my exchange, renewed my work contract, but could not get my parking ticket dealt with. Apparently it is up to me to pay the stupid thing which really sucks when your on as tight of a budget as I am.

The day slowly got better and better as I went home rocked out with my pal Mike and played so Halo Reach together. Finally beat the campaign. It was good.

Another part of my daily routine is hitting the gym with my brother where I increased my bench press by 10 lbs while still being sick. Woo! Pretty happy with myself. Over the course of four weeks I’ve increased that particular workout by about 80 lbs which is really awesome for a computer nerd! Super stoked. It’s time to get in the habit of working out in Toronto while I’m there though.

I spent the evening with my girlfriend doing some life planning. I’ve found a couple of great tools if anybody is interested:
-Mint.com – Budgeting and personal financial management. Frigging awesome! Can’t get over how useful it is!
-Sparkpeople.com – Health management tools which track nutrition and fitness all in one fairly nice interface. Just started using it tonight so once I become more accustomed to it I’ll write a little more.

Anyways I have a long day tomorrow so might not log anything. Take care strangers.

If you keep a budget of any sort and use a bank account then this site is likely for you. It’s completely free and it automatically categorizes your expenditures based on your transaction history in any linked bank accounts. By doing so it is able to track how well you stay within your budget. Mint.com also let’s you set up alerts to let you know if you receive a bank fee, make a large deposit, or go out of your budget (to name a few).

I’ve been struggling with finances for a long time and if there is any light at the end of the tunnel to find my way by — Mint.com is it.

P.s. I’m haven’t been paid off by Mint.com I just started using it today and it is absolutely incredible. Check it out!
